Yamuna Expressway Witnesses Three-Day Awareness Drive on Tyre Safety and Road Safety

Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association (ATMA) and Indian Tyre Technical Advisory Committee (ITTAC) have jointly launched a three-day awareness drive on tyre safety and road safety at Yamuna Expressway. The campaign, which began on April 4, aims to educate motorists about the importance of tyre safety and road safety.

During the campaign, ITTAC experts briefed the public about the importance of tyre safety, highlighting the crucial aspects of “PART” – Pressure, Alignment, Rotation, and Tread Depth.

Sudarshan Gusain, Chairman of ATMA/ITTAC Safety Awareness Group, appealed to the public to dispel the myth that under-inflated tyres are safe for expressway driving. He emphasized the need to maintain the recommended air pressure in tyres as specified by the vehicle manufacturer.

ATMA/ITTAC experts emphasized that tyres are a critical component of any vehicle, often neglected by motorists. However, tyre safety is crucial for a safe journey.

The event was graced by the presence of Manish Verma, District Magistrate, Gautam Buddh Nagar, who addressed the gathering and emphasized the need for continuous awareness drives to reduce road accidents. He also appealed to the students present to take the lead in promoting road safety.

ARTO Administration Siya Ram Verma, stressed the need to educate people about the dangers of overspeeding and worng overtaking, which are major causes of road accidents.

ATMA/ITTAC brought together various stakeholders, including the government, administration, transport, tyre industry, automotive industry, tyre safety experts, activists, teachers, students, and journalists, to promote road safety.

The event saw the participation of hundreds of students from GNIOT and Gautam Buddha University.

V K Misra, former Chairman of ITTAC, thanked the gathering and assured that ATMA/ITTAC would continue to organize road safety events in collaboration with the district administration.

 

The event was also addressed by P K Banerjee, SIAM, Rama Shankar Pandey, Ministry of Social Justice, Sumit Awasthi, journalist, Dr Bandana Pandey, Dean, Gautam Buddha University, and Raghvendra Kumar, Helmetman.

The event concluded with the felicitation of Yamuna Expressway’s road safety personnel. ATMA/ITTAC was represented by Rajiv Buddhiraja, Sanjay Chatterjee, Nitish Shukla, and Vinay Vijayvargiya.
